Howard Dean and Spam

Dean is given credit for effective use of the web in energizing his campaign, and for the most part, he's done a very clean job of it. However, mistakes have been made. At least the Dean Campaign has been willing to address them.

Final Commentary

I think that like many internet geeks, I found the Dean Campaign very frustrating to deal with. They were so close to really "getting it", but in the final analysis, never quite finished the job. My main issue was ultimately that their procedures for handling email list were broken and weren't going to get fixed. The lack of confirmation of email addresses, combined with broken unsubscribe procedures, were a time bomb waiting to go off. I don't know if it's good news or not that the campaign didn't last long enough for that to happen. Oh well...
